Susan Richardson - Office Manager Extraordinaire

Susan

Susan has been with us since long before anyone can remember.  Susan has over 20 years experience in the veterinary industry, and has been office manager at Yorkville Animal Hospital since 2000.  She continuously keeps Dr. Gignac in line, and makes sure that every aspect of the hospital runs in a smooth and efficient manner.  For the past several years, Susan has worked double duty, as both our lovely morning receptionist and our office manager.  She is that good!

Susan's life is consumed by cats (although she strenuously objects to the term "crazy cat lady").  We should all be so lucky as to come back in the next life as one of Susan's fuzzy little friends.  There is no feline that Susan doesn't love, although she has a definite thing for Persians.  Currently, she shares her apartment with five purebred Persian kitties (and one mutt), who graciously allow her to continue living there, as long as she keeps bringing home the goodies.  Susan also initiated and directs our kitten adoption program, and has placed countless kittens and stray mothers, that would have otherwise have been euthanized, into good homes.

In addition to her feline fanaticism, Susan is an accomplished chef, and has a passion for all things epicurial.  She regularly attends cooking classes, and has studied with some of Toronto's finest.  She has yet to make a full course gourmet dinner for Dr. Gignac, however.

Chris Reusch - Client Service Representative Par Excellence

Chris

It has been our pleasure to have Chris with us since October 2003.  In the beginning, Chris was brand new to the veterinary profession, having a background in the financial services industry and IT (computer stuff).  He is a keen learner, and is now a veritable fount of veterinary knowledge, from Anal sacs to Zoonotic diseases.  He has completed a number of online and traditional continuing education seminars to further enhance his skills.

If you have a problem to be solved, then Chris is the man to come to.  As our afternoon and weekend receptionist, he is adept at providing over-and-above-the-call-of-duty service to our clients.  He loves getting to know all of our clients and their pets, and takes pride in his ability to provide friendly, efficient service.  Chris is Susan's assistant, and helps to coordinate all aspects of client care, in addition to providing all of our computer network administration and maintenance needs.

Chris loves travel, and like Susan, has culinary aspirations.  He has a passion for cooking, and does private catering in his free time.  He is currently pursuing his personal chef designation.  Chris shares his apartment with his three feline roommates, Mouse, Marilyn, and Mame.

Laura Reynolds - Veterinary Assistant  and New Mommy

Laura

Laura first began as a volunteer, and we were so impressed, that we hired her as part of our regular staff.  She is responsible for keeping your little darlings all comfy and cozy for their stay with us.  She also helps the doctors in all aspects of their day-to-day duties, including administering medications, helping with Xrays, and monitoring anaesthesia.

Laura was born in Buffalo, New York, but managed to escape to Toronto where she studied history and Celtic studies.  She now resides with her Canadian husband, Andrew, her two cats, Sasha and Ronin, and her daughter, Olive .

Knitting, cooking, running, and vegan baking are all favourite past-times of Laura, although since Olive came along, who has time for all that nonsense...

Erica Stuart - Registered Veterinary Technician and Canadian Double Dutch Champion

Erica caricature

Erica joined our team in 2009, fresh out of Seneca College, where she graduated from the Veterinary Technician program with honours.  Being a new graduate, she still has a twinkle in her eye and a spring in her step -- something that I'm sure we'll be able to quash very soon.

Born in Montreal, Erica managed to escape to Ontario just after high school, where she first studied neuroscience, then was accepted into Seneca.  She lives in sin with her boyfriend Matt, her dog Deejay, her guinea pig "The Cheat", and her bearded dragon, Marlinn, who is the apple of her eye.

At some point in the distant past, she was crowned Canadian Double Dutch Champion, or at least, that's what she tells us.

Now, in her spare time, she enjoys camping, figure skating (you should see her legs!), taking road trips, shopping, and watching old science fiction movies.

Tiffany DeLuca - Veterinary Assistant and Speed Demon

Tiffany's caricature

Tiffany joined our little team in May 2009, and our lives have not been the same ever since.  Blessed with a wicked sense of humour and a biker-chick attitude, Tiffany makes every day an adventure.

Tiffany's wild youth was spent tuning cars (Mustangs in particular), and drag racing in events throughout Ontario.  She was so good, that Coca Cola sponsored her racing career for two years.

When not shopping, or schmoozing in Toronto's hottest dance clubs, Tiffany spends her time with her little darlings Shroom and Chandler.  Shroom is a Chantilly - a rare cat breed, whom Tiffany loves "more than words".  He is, apparently, the "King of her world".

Chandler the Lhasa Apso, is a very handsome and smart boy, who gets told how very handsome he is by Tiffany every five minutes or so.
